Catchall leather trays in various sizes featuring a hand-tooled design and stitched-edge details. Handmade in Baja, Mexico. Store your keys, jewelry, spare coins, books, candles, stationary and more. The natural leather is characterized by unique variations and slight imperfections in markings, making each one different and special.
We collaborate with Eduardo in a small community in Baja to design and handcraft these leather trays. It takes Eduardo 2 full days to finish one set of 3 leather trays.
The specific design etched into the base of each tray is very typical of "sudcaliforniano" (southern Baja); the origins of this style are traced to Spanish and Arabic influences combined with local adaptation. Very special and unique.
Eduardo is committed to carrying on the vaquero tradition of leatherwork that features hand-tooled details, elaborate designs and traditional saddle-making techniques. Life is not easy in the mountainous vaquero communities of Baja, and many have abandoned this type of work. Eduardo hopes to keep these traditions alive, and we love supporting his mission.
Please expect small variations in size and leather appearance; these are individually handcrafted items, and leather is a natural product. No two pieces are identical. We embrace the unique qualities of every item, and hope you do too :)
