Our Sierra wool rug features earthy and neutral hues, a flat weave, and an architectural design. Handwoven in Oaxaca, México with locally sourced sheep’s wool, and hand-dyed. The rug is fully reversible, with an identical pattern and color on both sides.

Available in two sizes:

  • Small Accent Rug (2' x 3'): use as a bath mat, bedside, in the entryway or in front of the kitchen sink.
  • Medium Area Rug (3' x 5'): pair with a small dining table, arrange in the living room, or use it bedside. Also suitable in a large foyer or entryway.

We work with a family of weavers in a small town in Oaxaca, a region of southern México, to design and produce this rug.

We recommend using an eco-friendly rug pad to avoid slippage. Rug pads also increase the longevity of rugs, and add extra padding and comfort. To find the best rug size for your space, measure first and mark the outline with painters tape. This will allow you to visualize the space and arrange furniture accordingly.

Please allow 2-4 weeks to ship.

  • Size: 2' x 3' or 3' x 5'
  • Color: Grey with shades of ivory and black
  • Materials: 100% sheep's wool
  • Care: Vacuum regularly and avoid direct and prolonged sunlight exposure (the color will fade in direct sun over time). If a spill occurs, use a clean and dry towel to quickly absorb the liquid. Additional spot cleaning with water and gentle soap is fine (blot, never rub). When in doubt, professional dry cleaning is always the best bet.

Clara: Oaxaca Wool Weavers

Clara is the youngest member of a multi-generational family of weavers in the Teotitlan del Valle - a serene town located outside of bustling Oaxaca city. Weaving in this town has ancient, Zapotec roots that have been dated back to 500 BCE. The village is renowned for its woven rugs and tapestries that use wool fibers, natural dyes from plants & insects, and feature indigenous motifs and designs.

Clara was taught to weave by her parents and grandparents, who were taught by their elders before them. Today, she and her sisters run the workshop in the back of their family home.

Our line of handwoven wool rugs and pillow covers are designed in-house, and produced in collaboration with Clara and her workshop. The result is a beautiful blend of traditional craftsmanship combined with contemporary design.
