Bring beauty to your table with our luxe copper trays handcrafted in Michoacán, México. Perfect for serving your favorite drinks and hors d'oeuvres, or for use on an accent table.

We work with a collaborative of artisans in Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán who produce these beautiful pieces using recycled copper.

Care Notes: Copper will not rust, but it will naturally tarnish or patina over time and/or with exposure to moisture. If you dry your piece thoroughly after each use, this will prevent tarnishing. If needed, your piece can be polished to a gleaming finish with a copper cleaning product such as Brasso, Tarn-x or lemon + salt. It takes only a few minutes to polish.

Do not put copper in the dishwasher, and never use steel wool or abrasive sponges or scrubbers to clean it, as they can scratch copper’s surface. Clean gently with a smooth sponge or cloth. Dry immediately. Any moisture left on copper will increase the rate at which it tarnishes, so be sure to dry it thoroughly.

Recycled Copper Studios

Nestled in the beautiful, forested hillsides of Michoacán is a small town where the art of coppersmithing dates to the 12th century.

Today, the vast majority of copper is produced in coppersmith studios that utilize recycled copper. The recycled metal is melted down, and manually pounded into shape with sledge hammers. The process of transforming scraps of copper into functional pieces is manual and iterative. A single item, such as a large tray, might be fired, hammered and dunked in tubs of water a dozen or more times before it's finished.

We work with several family-run studios in the small town of Santa Clara del Cobre, which employ between 5 - 25 coppersmiths each, to create our collection of copper trays, cups and accessories.
