Ceramic clay ladle handcrafted in Puebla, México. Each ladle holds approximately 1 cup (16 fl. oz). Perfect for serving soup, stews, or saucy meals. Each clay ladle is thrown on a potters wheel, and finished with sturdy handles shaped by hand. The ladles are burnished but not glazed, resulting in a smooth, almost waxy feel and hefty weight. Available in natural, sandy beige (dishwasher safe) or chocolate brown (not dishwasher safe).
These special pieces are made by a group of artisans in a remote town in the state of Puebla, located in central México. Once a seabed, the soil in this region is now rich with clay which spawned a culture of pottery production that has been honed over decades. The clay is sourced locally and worked until it is ready to be shaped into objects such as bowls, vases, plates and more. Each piece is finished with a clay slip and burnished prior to being fired.
Expect slight variations in size, shape, texture and color. Each ladle is made by hand, and will feature the unique attributes to be expected from individually handcrafted items.
