Designed and crafted by Daria Mariscal in a remote town of northern Baja. Daria harvests and processes local clay, and shapes each mezcalero by hand before sun drying, burnishing, and ground firing the pieces to finish. The smoke and flames create the beautiful marbled appearance. This pottery technique has been practiced by generations of Pai Pai members, an indigenous community in Baja pre-dating the Spanish settlement with currently less than 200 people.
