Our pieces are produced in San Bartolo Coyotepec, a community in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico with a long history of producing barro negro pottery. All clay is locally sourced from the hills of the region and shaped by hand without the use of pottery wheels. The black clay, known as "barro negro," is a unique and revered material prized for its distinctive sheen and ability to be intricately shaped, creating exquisite pottery that reflects the region's rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship.
